Member Events
Exceeding membership needs and expectations is always Bobby's number one goal. At PCC, there are over 750 member golf events annually. PCC has over 1,600 members ranging from golf to social members who all receive an individualized experience. Bobby has learned throughout his career that every member is important and every detail matters.

Providing the best conditions for the membership (fast & firm) is something that Bobby has provided throughout his 10+ years of golf course maintenance. Providing these conditions year-round is imperative. Understanding the need to listen to player feedback on their expectations of course performance is important to him. Bobby has an intimate understanding of managing bentgrass and poa USGA, California (100% Sand-based), and Pushup greens, as well as weeds, trees, and naturalized areas.
Chemical and Fertilizer Use
Chemical applications are essential on golf courses to keep turf healthy and protected from pests. Pesticides follow strict label use in accordance with law. Record keeping is an absolute necessity. Bobby is a certified applicator in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and attends continuing education seminars annually.

Course Set-Up
Championship course set-up experience working with EZ locator to determine pin locations and course yardages daily. EZ locator is an accurate measuring tool that allows Bobby to pick the fairest pins while assuring the health of the greens are maintained. With 22,000 rounds of golf being played each year, managing foot traffic on greens is one of the most important facets of maintaining putting green health. Being able to choose precisely where each pin is every day allows his team to manage wear and tear.

PCC members and caddies are provided a pin sheet with exact locations of pins daily. This sheet shows the plus or minus from the center of the green to accurately reflect the yardage markers on the course.

Attention to Detail
Having the privilege of working with some of the top turf managers in the country, Bobby has learned that attention to every detail is essential for golf course operations. He believes that a golf course should be challenging but fair to all different skill levels. The use of a “smart tool” allows him to check the slope of the hole locations to provide a fair and enjoyable golf experience to the membership. This also allows him to choose tough but fair pins if the event warrants the challenge.

Bobby's goal is to give the membership championship conditions everyday. Painting the cup provides the golfers with a more visible target while giving off that tournament feel.

Using a tee square daily assures that every tee ball is perfectly aligned down the center of the fairway.

Divot Plugging
Managing a golf course with 22,000 rounds a year can cause a lot of damage to landing areas and tee boxes. Bobby implemented divot plugging into the routine at PCC. Replacing over 2,500 divots a week has allowed the course to recover seamlessly.
Putting Green Management
Managing moisture is crucial to putting green performance. Using data collected via sensors allows Bobby and his team to effectively place water only where needed. He is a firm believer that "you can always add water, but you can't remove it."

Emergency Situations
Over the last five years, Bobby has worked at golf courses in flood plains. He knows how to prioritize the damage and establish a plan to get his crew out and efficiently get the course back to playable conditions as soon as possible. During the tornado in the summer of 2021, the course lost over 50 trees and we were able to open after just one day.

Brick Cart Path
During his time at PCC, the cart path on number five at St. Martins was transformed from gravel to brick. In as little as 2 months we were able to update the property, but maintain the traditional feel consistent with the architecture of the buildings and grounds.

Blue Stone Patio
Covid-19 has caused a lot of issues in the service world, one of them being limitations to indoor dining. With PCC having 1,600 members it was important that we provide our members with long term options for visiting the club in a safe and comfortable manner. In just one week, the team completed this Blue Stone patio and the result was seating for 40 more members to enjoy the dining experience at the club.

Artificial Surfaces
Installing artificial surfaces around the PCC campuses have allowed for golf in areas that were previously not possible. Artificial surfaces provide golfers the ability to utilize our facilities year round and when weather may not permit on natural playing surfaces.

Tree Planting
Trees will always be a delicate subject for any golf club. In many cases trees are beneficial to the lay out of the course, but at other times may be the root cause of declining turf health. Trees decline the turfs health due to their ability to out compete the turf for water and nutrients. During the past few years Bobby has worked closely with PCC's Landscape Superintendent on strategic tree planting in order to maintain a healthy population of trees on property while also removing any invasive, problem causing, or sick trees.

1 Tee Complex at Whitemarsh Valley Country Club
Bobby has performed multiple tee box renovations. There was a 100 year old Oak tree 10 feet behind the 1 tee complex at WVCC causing turf health to decline. With the removal of the Oak tree in the spring of 2018, we were able to expand the usable tee space for golfers while providing a more sustainable growing environment for the turf.

Militia Hill Bunker Restoration
In the winter of 2021-2022 Bobby and the PCC staff restored all 68 of Militia Hill bunkers to the original shape in a 3 months span. Sand build up from play over the last 15 years caused the bunker faces to rise and shrink as time went on.
